This is a really cool - and very different type of online video contest - Pin the Tail on the Culture, Inc. announces a contest to find the most beautiful walker in the USA.

In an effort to support and promote the aesthetics of curvaceous beautifully walking women, the company will award three prizes to the best entries. (Note that we’re NOT saying beautiful walking women, but beautifully walking women—the face is irrelevant, only the walk is important.) The company will showcase all acceptable entries on the company’s contest website, http://www.poetryinmotion.info along with links to the contestant’s web address or email. When winners are picked in January 2007, they’ll be announced on the site. more

This might be the killer video app. Sort of like a google search for video and audio. By extracting and analyzing the audio for audio and video podcasts, converting it to metadata that can be searched, the HearHere software application from Pluggd allows users to jump right to their area of interest in podcasts. Relying on speech recognition and semantic analysis within its media player, HearHere lets users skip commercials in the beginning of a podcast or bypass the baseball highlights to jump right to the football segment in a sports report. more

Webcams are great for capturing short video clips and live video messaging across the Internet. Plus, webcams can be used for remote monitoring, some even with motion detection. But you don't necessarily want to tie up a computer to act as a video server for a connected webcam, so a better option for this kind of use is to use a dedicated Internet camera with a built-in network interface, like the Creative Live! Wireless. more
